Knitting and Reading Today

Joining in with Ginny and so many others at her knit along through her blog, Small Things....

I finished up the Plain Vest that I shared last week, and dabbled with some crocheting throughout the week and am now trying to decide on some new knitting projects.  I knit one bootie from the book, Simple Knits for Cherished Babies, but don't like having to pick up stitches on the front sides.

What is your favorite baby bootie pattern?

I am also casting on for another Colin's Vest using this really pretty soft wool that came in a barter from a blog reader.

I am still reading Greenhorns and am really enjoying the essays.

Looking forward to reading about what book you are enjoying and if you have any knitting projects in the works.

Warm wishes,

  1. Hi Tonya,
I have 4 kids and they have all "sported" little booties from that book- great pattern. I also knit a series of cardis from there.

    Looks like a great vest.
    Happy Wednesday!

  2. I have to FIND a bootie pattern. I have a few pairs I want to knit up before my friend has her baby in a couple of weeks and I keep dropping the ball on that project. I was thinking of knitting a basic sock pattern and improvising on that somehow.

  3. my fav booties are these
    I've knitted up many!
    lovely yarn!!

  4. my favorite booties are saartje's booties. They are super cute and a free download that you can get here:

  5. Such cute booties. I could never keep booties on my kid's feet. Love to see what you are knitting and reading each week. Thanks for the post.

  6. Tanya, I put another vote in for the Saartje booties. They are adorable, and not too terrible to knit up. I just posted today on my favorite baby sock pattern--"Leftovers baby socks" ( that I prefer to booties (they do need some type of moccasin or shoe to keep them on, though). I'll have to take a look at that book--looks fun!

  7. Love that little booty, I can't help with a pattern, but I am definitely checking out some of the ones left above, I am looking for one too :)

Love the red yarn, looks lovely.

  8. Lovely colours - have fun with the knitting.
Knitting booties from the toe makes them like knitting socks and there are no stitches to pick up around the front.

    Enjoy the stitches
