On the counter I have two loaves of bread rising and a zucchini chocolate chip bread and my healthy treat waiting to go in the oven with the bread.
Today my "healthy treat" consists of - 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 1 t. cinnamon, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup millet flour, 1 cup oats, 1 cup cashews, 1/2 cup dried cranberries.
Also new to our home is this beautiful table. My father brought it up from his home in Massachusetts last weekend as a surprise gift for my birthday (which isn't until next week). Words truly cannot express how much his thoughtfulness means to me. This table that he spent countless hours milling a piece of red walnut, sanding and more sanding and finishing and more finishing - a place that is truly the center of our home.
I am sure it is to become an heirloom to be passed on to generations to come.
This morning the table is scattered with remnants from last night - the Sunday Boston Globe, crayons and papers, and an erector set in progress.
What is happening in your kitchen this morning?
Your table is beautiful! Really, I love it!! And those goodies look delicious. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful table Tonya, what a wonderful gift to you and family. And if I don't get to mention it again, I hope you have a very happy birthday next week.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I will be baking bread, as soon as the girls are up. Yesterday was such a big kitchen day I'm not sure what else we will have to do today. We have blueberry muffins put away in the cupboard and a huge pot of vegetable/lentil/nettle soup in the fridge. (Super nourishing for me and baby!) You have reminded I am hoping to make a big batch of yogurt this week too. I guess all days are big kitchen days anyhow!
Wishing you a beautiful week Tonya!
Love, Renee
Your baking looks good! That is truly touching that your father gave you such a nice surprise! love, andrea
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and useful gift for you and your family! Our kitchen table has the remnants of yesterday's birthday party still scattered about. My boy is now officially 6.
ReplyDeleteOh Tonya...what a beautiful piece! It shows the love and attention that was given to it in every stroke, every grain of wood. Something to truly pass on to the children.
ReplyDeleteYour breads and your treat looks delicious. At this time, my taste buds are not working due to the flu that has gripped my body...but I can just smell them from your picture :)
Be well today...thanks for sharing,
m.
Hi there! Your blog is just lovely, and the table is already a beautiful heirloom. :)

ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful! What an incredible gift! (Happy almost birthday!)
ReplyDeleteOh my, that table is amazingly gorgeous! And particularly special to be made with so much love. You are a lucky one for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat table is beautiful! ...and the "healthy treat" sounds really nice, too. I'm going to have to try it!
ReplyDeleteThe table is beautiful, as is the sentiment and work that went into creating it. I'm sure you'll look at it every day with love and joy, as your children will for years to come. Today in our kitchen I've made bread, boxed eggs, made a gluten free brownie cake and will be making my beloved's favourite pie for his dinner tonight. Currently on my counter is a basket of goodies collected from our chickens and veggie garden, today really is a good day to be alive : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table. Mouthwatering treats.
ReplyDeleteIn my kitchen this morning, I was slow cooking some turkey thighs that I later added home grown green beans and homemade (gluten free!) noodles too.
Dinner was wonderful.
Next, I must do something about that zucchini...

ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful table, and so filled with love!
ReplyDeleteThere is not too much of note happening in my kitchen today - just the usual preparing of meals and washing of dishes. I am planning a baking day for later this week - Thursday or Friday, maybe? Granola bars, graham crackers, and cookies are my list.
Your new table is beautiful! I was admiring the picture of it even before I read that it was a special gift from your dad.
