This is a doodle I made during last Sunday's church service. It has stayed with me all week.
Through each ordinary day, I constantly need to remind myself of this. When thoughts of "I" start creeping in, when the laundry pile doesn't seem to be going down even after doing two loads, or the dishes have piled up on the counter after just washing a sink full, or Emmy slept for only 20 minutes - again - I sing out loud - "Lord, rid me of myself..." over and over again -
these precious gifts He has given me.
Just beautiful! What a fabulous reminder. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDear Elizabeth,
DeleteHow are you? I noticed you hadn't been blogging for a bit so I have been thinking of you hoping all is well.
Warmly, Tony
Tonya,
ReplyDeleteI also think a helpful reminder would be..."I am Blessed" because you are! I know many women who would trade with you right now having a full home and messy kitchen because of all the love that is in your home...rejoice!! Those piles of laundry will soon be gone...no more toys on the floor....you are Blessed!!!

As Paul tells us in Ephesians "Walk worthy of the calling for which you have been called." I love this verse as a reminder whenever I start feeling the hum-drums of daily motherhood chores. Thanks for sharing, Tonya!
DeleteIt is almost like a mantra - isn't it Tonya? For us to constantly remind ourselves that we need to step aside with all of our wants and self-centered desires and see the Divine purpose in everything that we do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words my friend,
m.
precious indeed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful first photo. Wise words indeed Tonya, thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo wise and true, Tonya thank you!
ReplyDeleteLittle Emmy is darling- she reminds me of my littlest last winter, who was my first baby for whom I could knit proficiently- and he wore wool all winter. He felt like a little teddy bear, so I imagine Emmy feels pretty good to hold!

Dear Melanie,
DeleteI am so grateful that I am not able to make time for knitting for Emmy. With the other children I was busy knitting for our business but now that we are concentrating more on the wood side, I can actually knit for us. Thinking of you.
Warm wishes, Tonya
Oh how right you are...this is the cry of my heart, as well.....each and every day.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of Emmy in all the knitted goodness! :)
How very true, and how hard it is to be free of self. As I recently read on a tea-bag tag: "No ego, no problem!"
ReplyDeleteI say this all the time Tonya, but you are amazing! And that sweet baby in all her mama made knits...I just want to scoop her up! So darling.
ReplyDeleteOh Angie you are so sweet but really I am just a regular person that has many many struggles and faults but am so very grateful for this one beautiful life I have been given.
DeleteWarm wishes to you,
Tonya
Dear Tonya...We must be in a similar place, and I also am reminded to be grateful for all I have when I am feeling a little run-down. Thanks for your reminders, hugs hugs hugs to you from me!

I wrote a post today about this whole topic of love and sacrifice. We mothers, pouring ourselves out so often know it best. Your lovely daughter looks so warm in those cozy handknits. I admire your talent! I'm still a baby knitter, but making progress slowly...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Erin @ embracing the now
Been thinking the same here!
ReplyDeleteYou are living in your glorious days of motherhood.
ReplyDeleteI remember the ever pressing needs of the children and the on-going household chores but only faintly because what I remember most is a life-style of learning. I remember the meals we ate together more than the dishes. It all comes together because mom, like you humbly shared, is giving place to those she serves.
My little grandchildren are coming from a state away this afternoon to spend the weekend so I'm gearing up for full-time service again, cooking ahead so I can play. I can't wait to hold them.
Your baby looks so sweet and cozy wrapped in knitted love. The doll will be quite special.

So true. So blessed. What a cutie Emmy is!
