Simple Rustic Branch Under the Sink Cover

We do our best to make do with what we have, can find, or buy second hand.  When we bought our rustic cottage, the two doors under the sink were in very bad condition so I removed them and added some fabric instead.  That was two years ago and the fabric I had chosen now seemed a bit dull.  It was time for a change - to add a little spring inside (because it really is coming).  This yellow calico did the trick.  We use branch hooks and a branch rod (courtesy of our woods) for hanging.

  2. Oh I love it. I did the same for under our bathroom sink but have had issues with the way in which it hangs....hmmm as usual you have inspired me! I just happen to have a few tiny branch hooks from your shop I have yet to use, I've got a project for the morning! Off to find a branch:) Thanks Tonya!

  3. I love it. When we built our bathroom cupboards, this is what I wanted to do, but my husband wanted doors...so he built some. There are still openings on the side cubbies, which I find look messy...I think I will see if this will work there. Thanks for sharing

  4. Just love it. Simple ideas can do a lot. Recycling or using what nature can give us is the best way to live a plain and joyful life. I like you blog so much... thank you!

  6. so simple and perfect, the yellow calico looks so sunny and warm. we have some branches used for curtain rods, but i love the undersink, and the way you've used the wood hooks. i'd love to try this too. thank you!

  7. Tonya...So simply functional and simply pretty. We also have a similar thing for our bathroom and I love the old-fashioned look. However, your homemade branch hooks are all your own and I love that!

  9. I love the clever branch hook too. Having such a pretty, welcoming spot like that would almost make me WANT to do the dishes.

  10. I love it. I like using different stuff. I like keeping it simple, cheap and easy and even better is if I can use something used. Check out my blog...we are building a very small homestead house right now...if you go back a bit in my blog you can see some of the stuff we been collecting used to put in the house. I love recycling and crafting something into something I can use. Love the springtime fabric...I do like nice bright happy things.

  11. I have kind of an off topic silly question. I wonder, how does your family handle dishwashing? Specifically, how do you keep up with it? And do you do them by hand or dishwasher?
This is an area I am really battling with lately...

  12. 7 years after building our chalet we still have the curtain under the sink, it was meant to be temporary, until the carpenter 'did' the kitchen. Well the carpenter has 'done' the kitchen but I couldn't part with my sink curtain. Now I just want to change one small thing - I want a branch rail and hook. thank you for sharing this idea.
