New Home

It is a possibility....

We have been blessed with an offer by family to help us finance a home if we find something....

Michael and I sat down and drew up a floor plan that would meet our family's needs. We also wanted to find something within a mile or two of where we live now (and please keep in mind there are very few homes around here.) It also has to be VERY affordable.

Well, we have had two visits with a home just a mile down the road and at the last visit we brought a contractor to give us his opinion about jacking up the home, putting in a foundation and drainage. Right now there are just piers and a caving in concrete block foundation on the newer section. He was impressed with the condition of the frame of the house and gave us an affordable quote. If our offer is accepted from the owner, I will have a root celler!! I can't wait to be able to store all the wonderful squashes, potatoes and onions.

We will have adequate space to provide for homeschooling supplies and be comfortable when we host others. There are built in bookshelves and lots of storage. Of course, we will need to be mindful to keep it simple and use the resources wisely.

The house is rustic and does need lots of work, however to have our own home on our land will be great.

At first I didn't want God to think I was not content with our small mobile home on leased land, however a woman from church said that when someone offers to do something for you, remember it is God blessing you for being faithful and if it all comes together, that is God's work.

Oh, what a blessing her words were to me.

Please keep us in your prayers.

  1. Tonya and family,
God is good! What a blessing for your family. If it's the Lord's will, you'll absolutely love your new root cellar. I wouldn't want to live without one again, ever!

In the pictures it looks like a very nice home. Like ours was when we first looked at it, it's a diamond in the rough, and with all your Dh's talents and your decorative inclinations, it will be polished and beautiful before you know it. Praying for you all and praising the Lord for the loving people around you. Keep us posted, it's so exciting!
    Blessings and love through Him,
    Kelle

  4. I just discovered your blog via Blueberry Cottage and I was interested to know you live in Vermont. We will be heading to your state in late August with some other church members in order to participate in prayer walking. My prayers have already begun.

  5. I agree with your friend...this will be God blessing you through man. I will be praying!!

We had huge amount of credit card debt and a family member offered to pay it off for us and we would make payments to her. I was also worried about this but God made it happen for us and it helped us so much...we have now paid off that debt to her and it has made us trust God even more:)

I can't express how happy I am for you and your family!!!

  6. Found you via a link to the knitted gnomes pattern (such a treat and a blessing.)

We just moved from a way-too-small apt to a wonderful house in WV. We have a basement room, perfect for our root celler, and plenty of room for all our homeschooling supplies and activities.

    We are blessed.
Your family's path to the home that is perfect for you will be in my prayers.
