Reading and Knitting

Joining in with Ginny again to share what I am knitting and reading.

Last week I knit up that little hat that was supposed to be for me but turned out much too small - even too small for Abraham.  So I cast on again increasing the stitches and using larger needles.
What I like about this pattern is that I can use up bits of yarn.

I have a new craft book! - Sewn by Hand - How much fun to not use the sewing machine.  Looking forward to trying out some of the projects.

What are you knitting and reading?

Warm wishes,

  1. I am so excited to read the book you have recommended! I have a sewing machine, but we really don't get along very well. Hand sewing I can do so this book would be perfect! Thanks so much.

  2. I love the hat! It's too bad it doesn't fit, but I know the new one will turn out just as nice. I am thinking of making some socks like use up bits of yarn left over from other projects. Maybe they would turn out as cute as your hat???

  3. I am going to be knitting a hat just like that! I also need to make a pair of gloves and fix another hat that turned out too small. Not reading anything right now though, as I am starting writing another fantasy for my younger siblings. I can't do both. :)

    Have a wonderful week!

  4. The hat is really cute and sewing by hand is ideal for those winter nights when sitting in front of the machine is just not soothing enough :)

  5. oh now that book sounds interesting. i don't have a sewing machine... so maybe i could still learn to sew. :)

  6. I love, love, love the sewing by hand book! It is amazing how many things you can make sewing by hand and more quickly than using a machine because you can take it with you. If I want to sew after my son is in bed, I can hand sew while hanging out with my husband; whereas if I were using a machine, we wouldn't be able to have that quality time together while I'm also working on a project. I have made a waldorf style baby doll that was completely sewn by hand.

  7. Dear Tonya...Happy Holidays to you and your family! I hope you had a cozy, happy, lovely time together...I also just love love love your hat you are knitting. It is beautiful!
    xo Jules

  8. Love the hat...I am going to have to check out that book. I don't like sitting at sewing machines. But I love handwork.

    With All That I Am

  9. Ha Ha! My things always turn out too big! Wish I was better at sizing things...
    Have a great week!

  10. dear tonya,

today I can proudly present: I knit two shaloms!!!

I liked your: count your blessings under the tree!

  11. Time for me to knit along! I have read about knititng/reading on so many blogs this week, lol, it's my turn! How about doll-make-along? That's more my speed.

  12. I really like that hat, very different from patterns I've seen lately.

  13. That book look good, looking forward to hearing some of the projects from there. :)
