None of our children take any formal lessons or play on hockey teams, but they love to skate.
As I was sitting at my secretary looking out our window at the pond, I was filled with gratitude to watch all six of our children and my husband out on the pond. Even the little one was was playing on the edges.
Have a wonderful weekend. We have a birthday celebration to prepare for. Abraham turns two on Sunday and my mom and step-father will be arriving from southern New England to help celebrate.
Warm wishes, Tonya
We also have a small pond here, but alas, the ducks that choose to winter over keep it so it doesn't freeze all around. They are what also keep us from swimming in the summer....no one wants swimmers itch!
ReplyDeletewhat a blessing...that is a wonderful site.
ReplyDeleteRecently found your blog, enoying it very much. It is great for us "simple" folks to keep inspiring one another, because the culture will not do so. Blessings to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThat is part of the bliss of having a large family...you have enough players for a game of hockey...and it's so nice becuase the littlest just tag along, content to watch. What a blessing to have your own skating pond.

ReplyDeleteHow fun! Happy Birthday Mama!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! We had a pond growing up in NC and it rarely froze enough to skate on - but when it did - we had a lot of fun with our cousins - we had one set of skates between us and we had to take turns...
ReplyDeleteIce skating is so foreign to me but absolutely beautiful to see and watch. I admire anyone that can skate let alone stand on those shoes on blades.

Growing up we had a pond near us too-it was so much fun. Simple pleasures are the best! Have a great weekend my friend:-)
ReplyDeleteYour own rink! What a wonderful blessing! I, too, love the moments of watching my children play with their father. Ice skating is especially beautiful to watch, as well. Happy Birthday to your little one!
ReplyDeleteHow great is that! To have your own pond and have cold enought temps to freeze solid in the winter. My daughter would so love that.

How wonderful that you have such beauty right outside your window!
ReplyDeleteOur temperatures are quite warm here in PA at the moment - it seems that winter has not been very cold so far. I am missing snow :-)
Blessings,

My kids are drooling over that pond! They would love to be able to play hockey whenever they want to.

Oh lucky kids! We have a pond but it never gets frozen enough to skate on! HAppy birthday to your Abraham, and happy giving birth day to you Tonya.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with family!

how lucky you are to have a small pond for skating. we skate in the cornfields around here in ohio. a lot of times water gets caught in the tractor tire tracks, freezes, and the girls can skate.
ReplyDeletebeatuiful and romantic pictures of winter in vermont.

Happy birthday to Abraham! how cool that you have a pond to skate on - we live on five acres but no water and no freezing temps here in virginia. somehow you weren't on my reader and I missed your beautiful posts about your journey to your life on the homestead - no worry, I went back and read each post that I missed. Your strength and journey to the life you desired are an inspiration to me - thank you so much for sharing! I just ordered some valentine's goodies from your shop - can't wait to add them to my family's gifts.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am beyond jealous! Here in California we are MILES away from even an indoor skating rink! When I lived in Minnesota, I thought it was heaven to be able to walk to one of the lakes and skate in the winter... but to be able to do it right outside your home... bliss!
