Still working on the vest. I am excited as it looks as if it will fit Sarah and she is happy about that too. She is a very petite six years.
Starting to knit math process gnomes for Sarah's math. I used a pattern from The Gnome Craft Book and changed it a bit.
I am starting to read through a book I received as a Christmas gift from a friend, Opening Our Wild Hearts to the Healing Herbs, by Gail Faith Edwards. I would love to learn more about using herbs and plan to add more to our gardens each year.
What are you reading and knitting (or other handwork)?
Warm wishes, Tonya
(Thank you so much for all the kind words about the engraved letters. I will let you know when I have some for sale in the shop. I am also going to look into switching over the blog to Typepad so that I can reply to all of your thoughtful comments. I will keep you posted.)
I just bought yarn to knit myself a hat and my daughter slippers...and my husband and I are reading The Education of the Child
ReplyDeleteAnd Early Lectures on Education--SO interesting.
I'm working on a sweater for myself...hopefully it will be done before winter is over! Have a great week. That book sounds really interesting. Great winter reading for thoughts of spring planting.
ReplyDeleteI am working on a two colored woolen bag that I will felt when it is done being knitted up. As for a book, I just The Book of Fires by Jane Borodale. Haven't gotten into it enough to see if it is a keeper or one to bring back to the library...

If you like blogger but want to be able to reply to each comment you can use IntenseDebate-that is
ReplyDeletewhat I chose to do. http://intensedebate.com/ if you want to take a look. Your knitting and reading looks like an enjoyable way to spend some winter days.
I am working on two full stashes of cloth wipes for 2 expecting friends. And as of today, I'm not reading anything, but I want to read The Strong Willed Child by Dr. Dobson again b/c my little strong willed child has been throwing me for loops again lately. :) Hope to start it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat herb book sounds like a good read. I love your math gnome, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteCute gnome! I went with Wordpress.com recently, then I can step it up to Wordpress.org if I ever want to get super fancy or whatnot. Besides, it plays nice with my phone and the dashboard ROCKS compared to Blogger! (IMHO!)
ReplyDeleteknitting toddler leg warmers, and reading "The Omnivore's Dilemma: Young Readers edition" (aloud) :)
ReplyDeleteI use Typepad Pro for my blog and I love it! It has a lot of nice features and their customer service is excellent.
ReplyDeletelove the math gnomes. i see them in my future! : )
ReplyDeleteI am reading JAmes Herriot's books- and knitting longies, a little sweater, little socks, and a pilot cap. Soon to start a kitty for Asa's upcoming fourth birthday. Fourth! oh my!
ReplyDeleteMath gnomes are so adorable, I love them. I'm knitting a sweater for myself (my first!) and reading the pattern book, mostly. :) I also just blogged about the lacing blocks we received from you. Love them!

I'm reading research notes for a class later this month, fun to me, but not universally. :) My handwork right now is very cool... I'm joining three cashmere shawls with bridgework-style stitches to make the chuppah for a Jewish friend's wedding in early February. I'm so excited to get to participate in her wedding! (She's in Israel... talk about a world-wide web!)
ReplyDeleteThat book looks awesome, and I love what you are knitting up :).
ReplyDeleteLovely knits, and great books! Hope you are yours are well.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the last lap of knitting a sweater for my husband, and about half-way through knitting a sweater for my daughter from some incredibly colourful wool. I DREAM about getting back to that one! Reading "Wishing Well" by Paul Pearsall (very interesting re. what the brain wants vs. what the *heart* knows and wants), and also A.S. Byatt's Children's Story. Thanks for asking! Do let us know what inspires you in the herb book.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a math process gnome! We have the complete set of rainbow gnomes you made (from a GardenMama giveaway) and they are one of the most popular and loved toys in our home!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the math gnome!! I must see if I can find a copy of the book so I can make them for my younger ones :) I hope you will share how you like the herb book as you read it to. Have a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteTonya, I purchased Rosemary Gladstar's homestudy herbal program about 5 years ago but since living on the farm I have little time to study it, I do in small increments. it's a wonderful resource to have. I hope to visit her sage mountain retreat some day.
