One week old this afternoon....
Life has slowed way down to a nicer speed, really. My pace had been much too rushed in the past.... this slowing down is so nice.
We are experiencing so much love with our new blessing. This is at times mixed with feelings of being overwhelmed and wondering how we are going to get all of our to-do list done before winter.
The children need us now, not tomorrow. Thomas needs to get to theater rehearsal, Abby to ballet, the boys to band practice... Emily needs to be held, Abraham needs to be read to. These things cannot wait. The barn can wait. The peeling paint can wait. The children cannot. This is our job right now.
I love this saying - "Just Do the Next Thing". That is what I am doing now... the next thing. What matters most. What must be done. And as I sit and nurse Emily my joy overflows and for the moment the rest fades away.
Enjoy each moment....it is a gift. Emily is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful and what a lovely sentiment you've shared. The vacuuming and dusting can wait, but when my youngest wants me to read to him, the vacuuming can, and should wait. Lovely, indeed.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. Enjoy Mama!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with your little one. When my husband and I were thinking of adding to our family what you are saying my husband would say over and over but the children we have right now need us.
ReplyDeleteI look back with some regret always thinking of the children I wish we would have had. I know now that wasn't Gods will.
Enjoy this slow pace I am sure your children will understand.

Oh Tonya, she is so beautiful! And thank you for your wise words, "do the next thing." You are so right, the barn can wait, the children cannot. Why is this so easy to forget, to get so caught up in the work around us? I am constantly reminding myself to focus on what is most important: our family.

Oh she is JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!! You have your priorities right on track. Everything else can wait. Thank you for this precious reminder ;o)

She'S gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these moments! I am already teary eyed that my newest addition is 15 months old sitting on my lap nursing but with his mind on the next move. SO much to get done some days it can be crazy. You are so right to sit let it fade and when the time comes to move again just do the next thing. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWell put! I agree, the children can't wait, and it's too easy to get distracted by those mile long to-do lists!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! She is lovely and you're so right. I love the saying, "Do without doing and everything gets done", I love to ponder it. To me it means Just DO in this moment, don't think about the next moment.

Every mother who considers herself "done" is pining for another chance to just "do the next thing"...I know I am! Your new baby is so, so beautiful. Blessings and light to your family at this busy time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, precious little girl. Congratulations. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember feeling so overwhelmed when my daughter was born, but whenever I'd sit and nurse her, it helped center me and remind me that being her mom was the most important thing I could be doing at that moment.

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful (and inspiring) thoughts to accompany your beautiful babe.
ReplyDeleteawww...what a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteI agree...the kids wont'remember if the barn was painted or not but they will remember time spent with the family..doing family things. {{hugs}}
She's so beautiful! And your wise words tell the truth: children are children for so little, all the rest can wait- I know it's easier for me, I only have one child!!! Give your children an extra hug from me, please...
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great thing to remember while getting overwhelmed with the "to do" list. Your little girl looks so sweet and content.
ReplyDeleteAs always you are amazing. Thanks for reminding me to just do the next thing...it's so easy to get overwhelmed...
ReplyDeleteHappy one week! Beautiful post - so important to remember.
ReplyDeleteShe is breathtaking...
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
She is so beautiful. Congratulations. I love that saying. I think about making lists, but also about doing what is in front of me. Just do things when it's time. You are right-that other stuff can wait!
