March 's arrival. I know that sometime this month, the earth will warm and the snows will melt and the mud will emerge.
My baby belly and that I am just days away from beginning my second trimester.
Our "old ladies" ( 3 - 5 years old) are still laying well, with 15 chickens we are getting about 8 eggs each day.
Our business continuing to provide. These are birch wood burned table numbers for a wedding order.
Mail from thoughtful blog friends - a book on making wooden toys found at a thrift shop and needles and a devotional.
Sarah asking if we could please read the next chapter in Old Mr. Toad, by Thornton Burgess
The older children enjoying the younger ones.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
(I almost forgot, the new Spring Issue of Rhythm of the Home is due out today! - another thing to be thankful for.)
are eggs have returned! our hens are 2 and they quit laying through the colder months, so now we're thrilled they won't need replacement this spring!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessed, simple day you are having Tonya!
ReplyDeleteYour second trimester...any day now and you will be holding your beautiful gift in your arms...bliss!
Blessings in His Name,
M.
It is so hard to believe that March is already here. I love your post today. We all do have a lot to be thankful for and every once in a while we need to be reminded of that. Thank you for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Tracey
Congrats on the swelling baby belly. Cameron has been reading Frog and Toad this week too!
ReplyDeleteWe read all of the Burgess books when Scout was younger - he loved them so!...
ReplyDeleteSo much to be grateful for and to enjoy! Time does fly even amongst the snow and ice. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteI love those Thornton Burgess books! My brothers and I read them avidly as children. The days are getting longer and the light stronger, which makes me very thankful.
ReplyDeleteA lovely thankful list.
ReplyDeleteHappy March.
Oh my goodness--8 eggs a day!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post, Tonya- thank you for reminding us of the joy and beauty in the simple things!
ReplyDeleteOh, and of course I had to smile at the Burgess reference- we're all about Burgess over here! Ollie Winter's favorite author. :)
WOW! Your chickens must be very happy hens! Grateful indeed, I think when I step back and take a moment and a break and look around me I see how much I have been given and blessed with in my life. Sometimes in the rush of daily life we may not think of these blessings as the true gifts that they are and the joy it brings to us! Thank you for your reminder!
ReplyDeleteGlad they arrived. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww - many baby blessings to you Tonya! People would stand in longs lines to be you - you have a gorgeous way about your words and photos.
ReplyDeleteNamaste, Nicole
Such wonderfully simple things to be simple for. It is a gift to be simple...
ReplyDeletexo Jules
wonderful times, definitely. so happy about the new one coming.
ReplyDeleteso much to be thankful for! you have created such a beautiful life for your family. you inspire me in so many ways. on a lighter note i just read through your posts and realized that i need to prepare pancake batter the night before - i don't know why i never thought of that but it would make life a whole lot simpler in the mornings. Keep counting your blessings - you are so rich!
ReplyDeleteYour comment about your chickens got me to thinkin'. . .How long do chickens typically live and/or lay eggs, as you say yours are 'old'?
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing and beautiful family you have! And what a wonderful list of thankfulness. Yay, for the second trimester~ the best part of pregnancy. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou really are blessed and counting your blessings is such a wonderful testimony to the providence of the Lord.
ReplyDeleteAhh, I had no idea you were pregnant. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteLovely list.
Warmly,
Nicola
I don't have that particular reader, but I have other old readers like that. I was given permission from the owner to raid the old one room schoolhouse across the street from my house and take what I wanted. (I would have taken the entire school if I could!) I brought home piles and piles of old schoolbooks!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to sell my own produce and herbs, but what little extra I get I tend to just give to those I know in need. Perhaps the Lord will bless us some day with enough land to fulfill my little dream.
