Knitting and Reading



Joining in with Ginny of Small Things again this Wednesday to share what I have been knitting and reading.
I am enjoying knitting these little caps/bonnets from - again Vintage Knits for Modern Babies.  
The pale green one is knit of yarn from Green Mountain Spinnery of 20% organic cotton and 80% fine wool which will be good for the in between days when the baby first arrives.
The other cap is knit of alpaca which is so soft.   I am knitting up several for market.

I am just beginning this book, Good Wives - Images and Reality in the Lives of Women in Northern New England , 1650 - 1750.
I enjoy reading about what life was like for women during this time period.

    Goodness, those little caps are beautiful! I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling the alpaca ones at market.

    Your book looks fascinating, too. Ever since I was a child, I always thought that learning how people (and females especially) experienced daily life was the most interesting part of history.

    Lovely caps Tonya! I'm knitting a throw rug at the moment for a charity knitting group I belong to which gives knitted goods to the needy in the community. (It's winter here at the mo') And I'm reading a book on travelling in Australia written by an American called Bill Bryson.

    Just love the little caps!! And the book sounds interesting. I agree reading about woman's lives from time gone by is always interesting. I will have to see if our library system has it.

    Tonya, I really am looking forward to seeing your little one in those adorable bonnets!!! I just love the colors too.
    That book sounds fascinating, I think I'll look it up at Brownell Library, where we go for books (our local one is just so tiny).
    I have too many things on the needles all of the time- but currently I am nearly finished with a pair of wool longies for Ezri, in a big size for winter.

    That book sounds great! I may have to look that one up...Love the caps. What market do you do? We're heading back to VT to pick up the kiddos tomorrow, I can't wait! Missing them far too much!

    Knitting and reading - my two favorite things! I have even been doing both at the same time. I have been working on socks and reading "The Dirty Life" which is about a young couple who bought a farm and grew a tremendous CSA.

    Tonya...Ohhhh, those bonnets are beautiful! I have a soft spot for bonnets, as you know:) I am looking forward to meeting your littlest babe, especially in all these wooly goodies! I am knitting up a sweater for Sunshine's dolly for her birthday Friday, as well as finishing a cardigan I began with Melanie for our littlest boys. She finished a long while back, and I shelved it! I look forward to knitting again, as it really helps ground me down, you know?

    I've been thinking of getting Vintage Knits for Modern Babies for a sweater pattern I keep seeing on Etsy, but those bonnets are even sweeter.

    The Good Wives book is my kind of reading. Think I'll be asking my library to order both of these. Thanks!
