September Is....

:: Pumpkins to make Pumpkin Pie, Bread, Soup

:: Finishing the Firewood

:: Bright Blue Skies

::  Wool Sweaters in the Morning and Evenings

::  Routines  Returning

::  Sunflowers

and

::  A New Baby to Welcome

September is my favorite month for so many reasons.  What does September mean to you?

Warm wishes,
Tonya

(We were blessed not to be too bothered by Irene here in northern Vermont.  There was flooding to be sure which resulted in many roads being washed out.  Thankfully I did not go into labor that night as it would have been a challenge to get to the main road.   Not only was the road washed out but the end of our driveway had a large rut as well which would have made getting out difficult.   We have a wonderful community here and our neighbor told the town roads worker as he drove by the evening of the storm and he filled in the rut for us to make it passable.  We have been praying for all those who have suffered, but also hoping that the trials result in blessings as they so often do.)

Candle Dipping - Beeswax Tapers and Birthday Candles

Abby dipping our tapers.  We make our own candles each winter from the beeswax we buy from our neighbor.  It has been a joy to watch Abby enjoy and learn the different seasonal projects we do each year.

She made 9 pairs of birthday candles to use for Thomas' 17th birthday party tomorrow.  Seventeen, oh my!

The finished taper to light each night with supper.

Warm wishes,
Tonya

Glorious Spring to Winter Again

Just two days ago we picked these beautiful wild flowers called Marsh Marigolds that we found on the bank of our pond.

Since yesterday morning it has been snowing!

This is a picture of our chickens from yesterday.

This is what we woke up to this morning.

So what did we do during the long cold wintry day yesterday?

Lots of crafts.

Here is a simple one that is good for a wide range of ages of children.

With a piece of black construction paper, a hoop and a push pin - you can create all kinds of beautiful pictures.

To finish, cut around the circle shape and hang in a window.

My nine year old made this one.

Warm wishes, Tonya

Over the the Last Few Days

  Over the weekend we worked on our property, went for a hike at Camden Hills (gorgeous ocean view), and worked on some handwork. Yesterday,...
