Knitting and a Book Giveaway

I decided to play around some more with the top down sweater pattern.  Using the Poppy Cardigan Doll Sweater pattern once again, I cast on 66 stitches using Peace Fleece yarn instead of the 44 stated in the pattern and made short sleeves instead of long.  I just have to add the buttons.  It came out to be about a size 24 months.

I am still working on the scarf, disciplining myself to do one pattern set at least each day.

It has been very hard to squeeze in any reading time lately but wanted to pass on a book that I probably won't use much - Canning for a New Generation.  The recipes sound wonderful but are just a bit too exotic for my simple ways.  Please just leave a comment if you would like to win this copy.  I will choose a winner randomly tomorrow morning.

The winner of the canning book is "Amy C.T."  Please email me at naturalearthfarm@netzero.net with your address.
Thanks so much!

  1. That little yellow sweater is just adorable! I've done the pattern set discipline with blankets before. It's a good goal to help finish something that has become less inspiring. :) I already have Canning for a New Generation, and actually have really enjoyed many of the recipes. Feel free to skip me on the giveaway.

  3. You are doing a great job on your sweater's...I see very soon in your future you will be making one for yourself very soon!

I can't wait to see your finished scarf...I haven't made anything that has a complex pattern..I like to be able to pick up my knitting and then lay it down...I know that I would be able to make a lot more beautiful things if I could just work with a pattern.

Add me to your drawing I might not be able to make many of the recipes but I would love to look through it.

  11. Tonya...The yarn is beautiful, and so is the sweater. I'm not sure what you mean by knitting discipline ~ are you knitting a whole set each day (whoah!) or more like a set amount of rows to get through all the knitting projects. Surely, it is the latter ~ silly me.

  17. 1. I love the sweater! I am always so drawn to everybody's finished projects in nice bright colours, but even when I buy yarn, telling myself the whole time that I WILL be buying colour, I come out of the store with grey or beige. I managed rust the other day.
    2. If you are including Canadian entries (I understand fully, if you are not) then please include me in the draw too. I have been having a hard time finding canning books here. I keep seeing the same 4 over and over.
    Thanks for sharing!

  24. You probably aren't wanting to send it to New zealand but I would be interested as I like preserving.

I need to get my needles out and work on a hat to go with the scarf I knitted last winter (which is STILL waiting to have the ends sewn in!)
