I know it would probably be neater to knit with circular needles but then I would have to buy size 8 circular as well as size 8 double pointed needles.
This is a simple pattern - just cast on 92 stitches. Knit 2, Purl 2 each row across for 2 inches. Then stockinette stitch for 4" and then begin decreasing.
Looking forward to seeing what you are working on.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
can't wait to see the finished product! i posted this weekend the first christmas present i completed: http://totrainupachildwithlove.blogspot.com/2011/10/to-share-this-day.html
ReplyDeleteDear Tonya, I always have difficulty with what to make Andy. I had thought I should make him a sweater this year, but realize I simply will not have time!
ReplyDeleteI made Andy a similar hat last year for his birthday. You could get away with having only double pointed needles, and knit the whole hat on them.

hello
ReplyDeletei can not wait to see the finished hat.
have a nice week,
blessings regina
there's nothing more satisfying that a simple, enjoyable knit. I really like the color of that yarn. I'm working on a scarf...very slowly.
ReplyDeleteWhen I sent those circulars, I never thought about needing a set of double points in the same size.....bummer.....I sure could have tucked some of those in also...my thrifted needle supply would have provided them. :(
ReplyDeleteI am still working on the basket weave scarf you inspired me to start before Emmy was born. :)
Can't wait to see how it turns out!! Looks like it will be nice and warm :)
ReplyDeleteCome see our Homemade Holiday fun at http://ruralsuburbianfarmer.blogspot.com/
I have just started cuttting out the hearts and stars for the advent.
ReplyDeleteHats make great gifts!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy the book, thanks for visiting me.
We have a birthday to plan and make for this week, so Holiday making has been put on hold for a week. In the meantime, we have been going through the clothes, toys, and books to see what items can be donated to our local charity in time for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your Handmade Holiday ideas! Here is my first project of the season: http://sarah-ourislandhome.blogspot.com/2011/10/handmade-holiday-2011-breakfast-boards.html
ReplyDeleteKnitting is fun! I recently had fun teaching some of my kids and my sister how to knit. I am hoping to knit some socks for Christmas presents but I haven't had time to work on them yet and I am not sure I will be able to get a pair done for all of them or not.
ReplyDeleteI put your button on my sidebar and I have a handmade Christmas post here: http://proverbs31living.blogspot.com/2011/10/handmade-christmas-week-4.html
Tonya I can't wait to see the finished hat! Have you tried the magic loop method of knitting? It avoids needing the double pointed needles when knitting with circulars, I love it! No crafty post this week, I've been busy with so much around here. I'll be back next week with more holiday fun.
