Joining in with Ginny again this week. I have been knitting for our shop in preparation of spring and Easter.
I made this pattern for the little bunny and it can be found in the spring 2010 issue of Rhythm of the Home, which is a free.
If you are interested in reading more about living a more simple life and what industry has done to our food systems and to the small farmer, as well as keeping things simple at home, Wendell Berry is wonderful. Last I read, he still types on a manual typewriter.
I look forward to seeing what others are knitting and reading this week.
Warm wishes,
Tonya
That is a cute little bunny...I may make one for my girlie!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of knitting up your little bunny for some Easter treats:-) Great book too, read that a little while ago. Hope your feeling better;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the bunny. I have not tried knitting animals yet, but with a little one here who loves all animals maybe I should. The book sounds like a good read so I will check it out. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Tracey
That bunny is adorable, and that does look like a good read!
ReplyDeleteA great bunny :0)
ReplyDeleteI had to explain to my children what a typewriter was.....
Ah. Wendell Berry is great. I just posted a pic of the blocks you inspired! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteLove the bunny! I am actually hoping to start on a nest this week, fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteOh the bunny is adorable. I am working on Easter knitting as well. The book sounds very interesting, adding it to my list.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Elizabeth
Precious little bunny! Thanks for mentioning the pattern link!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little bunny!
ReplyDeleteI love Wendell Berry. I actually have one of his poems on my blog.
I've also heard some of his talks on the subject of farming, very interesting. He has some great thoughts.
We love Wendell Berry too. He's such an inspiration. The bunny is adorable. We still have a few of them that we made last Easter with your pattern. ;)
ReplyDeleteWendell Berry is very inspiring. I heard he was at a protest against Mountain Top Removal Mining a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteIn Wendell Berry's book of essays, What are People For? there is a very interesting and surprisingly lengthy essay in which he explains his reasons for using a typewriter for his writing. (If I remember correctly, it mostly had to do with him not wanting to use electricity unnecessarily as long as it continued to be produced with polluting coal.) Then following, there was a follow up essay where he answered some of the fairly rude letters that had been written into the magazine which published the original essay.
ReplyDeleteSome of the essays in What are People For were a bit dull, but I remember those in particular being very interesting reading. I love Wendell Berry.
I love your bunny. I am bookmarking it.
ReplyDeleteLovely bunny - and thank you for the nudge to read Wendell Berry. A former minister, whose preaching I loved, often quoted him.
ReplyDeleteLove Wendell Berry--I need to read more. Congrats on your cute bunny pattern!
ReplyDeleteCute bunny! I just finished To Kill a Mockingbird and am starting The Diplomat's Wife. I am knitting a new hat for myself since I lost my other one. The pattern is called Noro hat and is made out of Noro Kureyon yarn. So colorful!

I love the bunny! Not much knitting or crocheting has been going on here since I was sick and have kind of fallen a wee bit behind on my daughter's wedding "save the date cards".....but I am enjoying "visiting" you all : )
ReplyDeleteI'm a Wendell Berry fan too! And I love your bunny.
ReplyDeleteTonya, Thank you for sharing your bunny pattern. I love it! I've tried a bunny before but it didn't look nearly as sweet as this one...in fact, I frogged it. I hope you're feeling good and getting to put your feet up a little here and there.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am just about to start The Good Life by Nearings...
ReplyDeleteWe heard Wendell Berry and Wes Jackson speak togeather recently on the topic of sustainable agriculter. It was such an inspirational evening! I look forward to reading more of his works.
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet bunny and I'm eagerly awaiting the spring edition of Rhythm of the Home. I think I've finally read all of the winter articles :) Wendell Berry is on my list of authors to read but I may have to bump him up to the top of the list as I've been hearing such wonderful things about his books! Happy knitting :)
ReplyDeleteWendell Berry is from right down the road, here in KY. I live in Shelby County, KY.
ReplyDeleteIt was probably the I <3 Moutnains event he was at, in KY"s Capital City, Frankfort. My hometown.
Cheers!

Good afternoon! I just love the bunny and can't wait to make one! However, I can't find it in the current issue of Rhythm of the Home. Do you know what section it is in? Thank you!
