How Cold Was It?

Our kitchen window completely iced over

Our car did not want to start.  Mike put out some metal to try and reflect the sun to help heat up the engine.

On the coldest day of the winter thus far, the children spent more time outside than usual.  I was a bit concerned and kept checking their fingers and asking them if they felt cold.
They iced up the little hill down to the pond and used all kinds of things to slide down on - here is a sled on a wooden ladder.

No need for a sled when they have their big brother to pile on...

(It didn't get above 8 degrees or so after being minus 25 the night before.)

 Warm wishes, Tonya

  3. Here? It got really really cold. Like, -38°C.
With 2 baby below 2yr old, we've cancelled all our plans, stayed inside, watched some movies and drink warm things. It was great.

    We had frozen windows too!

  4. That is wild...the kids wanted to be outside! I prefer to stay in with a hot cup of tea when it's that cold, but alas the chickens need water and food and a check to see if they are warm enough with their hay.

  9. That is cold - but at least it was also sunny. It looks like your kids had a blast. I'm glad all fingers and toes were accounted for when they came back in! And a belated Happy Birthday to Abraham.

  10. It was so cold here, too, in central Vermont!! I was worried about the animals in the barn. When I looked in a mirror after feeding them Monday morning, all of my hair had turned to ice where my breath had hit it. Minus 23 is ice shattering cold.

  11. We have been in a cold freeze in NH as well. It was a balmy 12 degrees today! HEAT WAVE! Of course, we are expecting another foot of snow by Thursday. How long until Spring?

  12. We've been hiding from the cold, there was a frostbite warning on Monday saying you could get frostbitten in 10 minutes! Looks like your kids had a great time : )
