With a the temperatures into the 30s, we woke to a blanket of white carpeting the ground.
Sarah requested permission to eat her breakfast by the woodstove.
Isaac shouted from his bed a little before 8:00 that he was going to be the first one to make a snowball this season and out he went.
Abraham was eager to get outside too.
Sharing in their joy has not been as forthcoming as we do see white for well over four months....
ahhh, there was frost last night and will be some white stuff just north of you in Ottawa tomorrow. i agree, it's hard to get so excited about it - though my little one keeps checking to see if it the snow "has arrived" :)
ReplyDeleteVermont children are obviously a hardier breed than Florida children. I love that your son was so excited that he went out with bare feet and wearing shorts. It drops down to the 50's here and I have to listen to complaints about how cold it is.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Denmark - where we have no snow... maybe there will be none this winter (to come) at all!
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteOoh, too early for snow!! I'm glad your kids enjoy it, I'm hoping not to pass on my hatred of cold to my daughter, seeing as we live in the midwest and get a lot of snow!
ReplyDeleteYes in Vermont, you will be seeing frost and snowflakes much earlier than we will here in North PA.
ReplyDeleteI come from the Caribbean and I still remember the excitement I felt at seeing my first snowfall...just magical!
Your son shares the excitement that winter is just around the corner :-D

No snow here, but it snowed last week (briefly)!
ReplyDeleteOh breakfats by the woodstove sounds heavenly to me! Want to send some of that snow our way? It gets soooooooooo cold here but we don't really get snow :(
ReplyDeleteSnow already! It's super cold here, but no snow yet. :) The picture of Sarah eating by the woodstove is so cozy. . .I'd like to join her with a hot coffee and knitting!

last night was the first night that we got our slippers and bathrobes on, it was a chilly one! you can certainly feel the shift! enjoy your weekend : )
ReplyDeleteWe had a nice frost this morning:) We are looking forward to the white stuff:) I would love to hear what you have been making for Christmas.

Snowy morning sounds so romantic. But, i've only ever lived at the beach all my life, and there isn't any snow here. Sometimes though, in the winter, you can stand in the sand and look at the mountains and see it (snow)!
ReplyDeleteWhat?! Oh my, I almost fell out of my chair when I saw your post. Our chidren are true weathertough New Englanders. Who else goes out in the snow in shorts, short sleeves and without shoes?! We do the exact same thing here when it first snows or first gets cold. I love it! I have been cold plenty of times because I refused to put on a coat before Nov.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that you won't have to confront snow until December. Peace, Angela
When I look at Issac I feel so cold! Just like boys running around in bare feet and can't be bothered with jackets! LOL The joys of childhood! I LOVe it. Now Abraham is more how I'd be seen outside, LOL. It's chilly here today, but I am NOT ready for snow. Too cold for me. Hope you all enjoy and stay warm! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
Is he really in his barefeet???? You breed tough boys out there! Enjoy the snow :-)
ReplyDeleteaaah I am getting goose pimples just looking at that picture of your son in his shorts in the snow!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is so exciting that you got snow. Our weather just very quickly turned into a chilly winter coming kind of feeling. It is pouring rain right now, but I am sure that just a little higher up in the mountains it is snowing (and that's where Jason is this weekend!) We were out early this morning and could see small glimpses of snow a bit higher up, but almost everywhere was covered with a thick heavy fog. It was so wonderful! And it has stayed cold and rainy and grey all day long. But yes, way more than 4 months of freezing winter here too, it can really be too much, but this early in the season we can try to be especially optimistic.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast by the woodstove sounds so perfect.
I hope you all have a wonderful cozy weekend!
How lovely! My children have never seen snow - they keep asking why king winter never visits them. I've seen it twice and very little, my first time was in Israel and then in London.
ReplyDeleteJack Frost has nipped everything around here, but no sign of King Winter yet! I love the gleeful exuberance of your son...that is how my husband feels about the snow. Right after Summer Solstice, he starts smiling extra big saying the snowy season is on its way! (I'm a sunhine kind of girl so how I married a snowy kind of man is a little ironic!) It seems my oldest son is following in his footsteps because he has been talking about a new toboggan for weeks now. Anyhow, I might as well join their enthusiasm, we also have nearly 5+ months of winter here. Gardening is a long way off...I'll sit by the stove, too, and ponder this. By the way, I love love love your stonework behind your stove. We are planning to do the same one day, ahhh, one day....

ah I am soooo glad to be seeing the end of the cold now, we are heading towards Summer! Yay! I admit its been lovely to play in the snow and have my children see it for the first time but it has been long and hard for us this year. We moved from a subtropical state to one at the bottom of the world with subantarctic chills! Its lovely to watch the excitment through a childs eyes isnt it? Isaac looks pretty happy and not to concerned about the cold!
ReplyDeleteSnow- wow! Thus morning has felt more like a warm, spring morning then Autumn.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I am following your blog now. I am delighted to see you are from Vermont as well! I wonder how close you live to us? (smiles)
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed a little snow here a few weeks ago too. I am always excited to see snow. I never tire of it!
