Joining in with Ginny and everyone else for this week's knit along.
I finished the little simple knit doll for Emmy's birthday. It was a very easy pattern from Living Crafts magazine, the winter 2012 issue.
Also off the needles came the colin vest I was making for a custom order. I had cast on 54 stitches on size 10 needles. I will instead cast on size 8 needles and hope for a better fit. It was supposed to be a size 4 but turned out to be a size 8! However, it has a new owner - Sarah really likes it and it fits her pretty well.
I am reading a book that Renee recommended, If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name by Heather Lende. It is so nice to finally have a book to look forward to reading at bed each evening - I think I am probably too picky but if I don't find a book interesting, I stop reading it. I figure there are so many good ones to read, why spend time reading something I am not enjoying.
Another book I am really enjoying is my nightly read aloud to Sarah, King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry. Sarah is our horse lover and this book flows nicely and we have been looking forward to reading a chapter each night.
I am looking forward to reading about your knitting projects and good book finds.
I love all of Marguerite Henry's books! She would love the "Lipizzaner stallions"
ReplyDeleteas well! It is fabulous and there is a Disney movie based on it! It made me cry! LOL
I totally agree with you, life is too short to waste it on boring books. Thank you for a good book recommendation, I love the title and have a feeling I will enjoy the book too.
ReplyDeletei agree about the books. not enough time already to waste it on a bad book. enjoy your reading. well, even though the vest came out too big, it looks great. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea that life is too short to waste on boring books! That is so true. Thank you for the book title, that sounds like a great read, and something I will be putting on my list for the coming colder months.
ReplyDeleteKrásne pletenie. Bábika sa mi veľmi páči! Asi si podobnú urobím, aj keď nemám dieťa, ktorému by som ju darovala. ;-D
ReplyDeleteA vesta je tiež veľmi pekná. Vyzerá byť jednoduchá na pletenie. Musím synovi tiež nejakú rýchlo upliesť. Jeseň klope na dvere!
Beautiful knitting. The doll I really like! Probably similar to do, even if I do not baby, which I gave her. ;-D
A vest is also very nice. It seems to be a simple knitting. I have to son, also some quick knit. Fall is knocking at the door!
Totally agree with you on the books. The little knit doll is super cute.
ReplyDeleteI will look for that book. Sounds good. I will usually stay with a book to the end even if I don't truly enjoy it...but it is always wonderful to be reading a book that you never want to put down! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThat is the great thing about big families. Make somehing the wrong size and it is bound to fit someone!
ReplyDeleteMarguerite Henry! I loved Justin Morgan Had a Horse, and Brighty of the Grand Canyon. The vest looks sweet on Sarah.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind comments about my writing-- now if only I could knit...
