OK

Just when I really feel like crying - when everything feels like too much.....

I call upstairs to ask Abraham to please come down and bring his plate and cup from the dining room table to the kitchen counter and to put away the ketchup.  He calls down, "Ok."

I answer back in a loud and cheerful voice, "Oh, my favorite word!"

As he passes me in the kitchen while putting his dishes where they go, he says, "I like making you happy Mom."

I bend down, knees to the ground and give him a huge hug as tears roll down my cheeks and he says, "I love you."

  1. Oh there is nothing like those moments. There are times when my days just become so much...then my middle son comes from behind and envelops me in his young arms and whispers... it is OK mom... just breathe and relax. and I realize that yes, it is going to be fine. Thank you for sharing your precious moment with me this morning... m.

  3. That's wonderful. Last night was almost too much for me but my nearly-two year old said good night love you mommy and jumped out of my arms into her crib. Suddenly all was right in the world.

  4. Oh, indeed, those little words of agreement can soothe any overflowing frustration in no time flat...especially when it is out of the mouths of babes. Tonya, you are not alone with tears flowing from hearing one little word like "okay".

  5. Oh Tonya, how sweet. We mothers can be so hard on ourselves, and one simple word like "okay" and "I love you" are such gifts! How sweet your little boy is! hugs
