Yarn Along

I have been experimenting (playing) with dyeing lately and having so much fun!
This skein reminds me of the day lilies that are out right now all around our pond.
I knit another Plain Vest and added some handmade maple buttons (another fun project of late using the maple saplings that were easy to peel).

I grabbed a book off my shelf to read through again - The Unsettling of America by Wendell Berry - one of my favorite authors.

And then on my desk I have my home school planning piles - planners, three ring binder, catalogs, notes, and I have been reading through When Children Love to Learn, A Practical Application of Charlotte Mason's Philosophy for Today - by Elaine Cooper.  A really excellent book that is giving me much to think about and apply in our home.

Joining in with Ginny's Yarn Along today - and looking forward to seeing what everyone else is knitting and reading.

Happy 4th of July!

Warm wishes,
Tonya

  9. Hi Tonya! I haven't been knitting. It am in the middle of making a waistcoat that is Revolutionary War era in style for Tyler. This is the fourth waistcoat, for the fourth kid, that I have made in the past few months. Getting better at following directions and hand sewing the parts of each that require that skill. As for books, I have a few on order from the libraries in the surrounding towns. Can't recall what at the moment though!! Ack, it is hot and my feet are soaking in a tub of cold water. Must soak my brain next (or go to bed, LOL).

  10. Your yarn is beautiful and I love the little sweater! It's so sweet! I've read some of Charlotte Mason's works and Karen Andreola's CM companion, but I hadn't heard of When Children Love to Learn, so I'll have to look that one up. I'm in the midst of reevaluating our home school and planning myself, so thanks for sharing!

  11. The Plain Vest is one of my favorite patterns! My daughter just finished one for 4h this year! The yarn you dyed is gorgeous! Also muddling through the When Children Love to Learn which I find a bit overwhelming but am pulling out what will be useful for us.
