Yarn Along - Emmy's Vest is Done

...with DK weight yarn from Peace Fleece and our hand made birch buttons with wood burned hearts.

I am still reading The Charlotte Mason Companion. Reading time has been scarce lately as Emmy is still very fussy in the evening until bed time.  But on the bright side I am getting some extra exercise walking around with her.

Looking forward to seeing your projects and learning about some good reading.

  1. Tonya, what a sweet vest- I have always loved this pattern. Yours is even more beautiful with that rustic peace fleece and handmade buttons!

  2. Her vest is darling. I just finally put buttons on two Pebble vests (they've been waiting for months). Not as nice as your handmade buttons though... Do you like what you've been able to read so far?

  9. my favorite vest, but with your buttons it's even better. glad to hear the positive voiced about a fussy baby, there is always something positive if you just look for it and getting exercise is wonderful.

  10. I've just started reading Joel Salatin's newest book, "Folks, This Ain't Normal". Are you a Joel Salatin fan? I'm loving the book. But I adore everything Joel says.

My wee girl is still fussy all evening as well. Newborn cries aren't a terrible thing though. Just compare it to an angry toddler's scream! :)

  12. The vest is wonderful, and those buttons are darling!

Those fussy times can be tough. I always felt so helpless as I tried everything to soothe the howling babe.

  17. Hi (again ;) ) Tonya,
Does Blogger let you know when I respond to your comment in my blog? I can never quite figure that part of blogging out- who gets notifications & who doesn't... Anyway. Are your goats pregnant now? Would you be milking twice a day? We decided to go down to once per day because the mornings were just way too hectic to get milking done in. Our homeschooling seriously suffered. But perhaps you'd need to milk twice due to goats not producing as much milk as a cow... In that case I'd wonder if you could get help with the milking? Like, could any of your older children take over the morning milking, or take turns doing so? Or, is there a way to balance your schedule so an older sibling can take over the morning schooling while you run out to milk? Although you'd also need someone to hold emily as well. Hmm. Is your husband a milker? Maybe he could do mornings? Have you milked your goats before? How did it fit into your schedule then?

    Questions, questions! LOL

Wandering out to the barn to do your handmilking can be so peaceful & nice, as long it's not so stressful to do so that you can't focus on anything peaceful! (I know how that feels). I hope you can figure a way to find a balance. Producing your own milk products for your family is such a good feeling!

  19. We milk once per day - we used to do twice, then we moved here and the dairy farmer we rent from has a huge herd of organic cows on NZ pasture system, and he milks his COWS once per day, and says it is best for the cows! He talked us into trying once per day with the goats, and it does lessen the stress! We also leave babies on by day for three months.
