Knitting Rainbow Gnomes

Joining in with Ginny of Small Things this week for her Wednesday Yarn Along.

It has been quite some time since a knit up a set of rainbow gnomes.   For these I am using Peace Fleece worsted weight wool/mohair yarn.   I hand dyed the orange and yellow using Peace Fleece's natural shade of yarn.
My pattern is here and is so simple.

I am on to the second in the Anne of Green Gables books - Anne of Avonlea, and am enjoying this even more than the first.

  1. I LOVE your little rainbow gnomes..I so wish I could knit!! I unfortunately am ridiculously untalented with yarn lol. Hand me fabric and a sewing machine and I can make anything, yarn? I get all tangled up lol.

  3. Gosh, those are sweet! I loved the Anne books when I was young. My mom just mentioned them last night, she had watched part of the mini-series recently. Made me want to read through the books again.

  4. Besides the little vest in my post, I brought my friend a gnome, knit from you pattern. I made it many months ago and she's been hounding me for it ever since!

  7. Off to get that pattern; those are darling and my granddaughters will love them. We were listening to Anne of Green Gables in the car when I visited them last month. Great books.

  9. Those gnomes are so cute!

I read Anne of Avonlea not too long ago, myself. All of the Anne books are delightful, but I think the first 3 are definitely the best.

  16. I just watched a new version of Anne on a public station and was reminded of my love of Anne growing up. My boys of course said yuck but my memories of reading those books and watching the show are quite heart warming.

Of course I love your wee gnomes I believe it is your gnome that inspired me to make a crochet version - Luckily now I know how to knit and can make up a few of these on my own.

Thanks, need to renew my subscription to your newsletter - miss getting that in the mail.

  17. I just tried the pattern you posted for these little guys. I'm sure I messed it up somewhere but it still turned out cute! Thank you for posting the pattern. It's only the second pattern I've ever followed and the first pattern that I followed that it actually looked anything like what it was supposed to! :-)

  19. I HAVE to learn how to knit, your gnomes are lovely. I can crochet a bit but knitting has always evaded me. I LOVE Anne Of Green Gables. ALL of them. I'm so happy for you that you are having your first time reading now and will be able to revist them like old friends in the future. I called my daughter, Marilla. Rilla for short, as you'll come to know : )

  22. Love your gnomes! You know I have a sweet spot for gnomes. Anne of Avonlea is our favorite Anne of Green Gables book. Have you seen the TV series shot on PEI. It is purely magical. It's no longer on TV in the States but you can find it on DVD. It was one of those rare exceptions when I broke my own rules.

  23. I am totally going to make these gnomes. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern. I love the colours you've used for this set too. I think my little guy might like them.

I read all the Anne books when I was younger.. maybe starting around age 10. I loved them so much. What a fantasy they created! I was lucky to live fairly close to PEI and made a trip to see her house. You can really feel her presence when you stand in the Haunted Woods. Enjoy!
