Baseball Days

Baseball season has started.  Isaac, our 12 year old, loves the game.  Generally, our whole family attends each game, the little ones usually play on the playground if there is one in between visiting me at the blanket and chairs (wonderful knitting time, of course).  Dear husband helps to coach the team.

Choosing to live as we do, we limit activites for each child because if we were on the go all the time, we wouldn't have the family together as much as we should, be able to live modestly, or get the work done that is required here on our farmstead.  (Having one vehicle also helps to keep this in check.)   But, baseball season is special and it is a short season, and playing sure brings a smile to Isaac's face.

Warm wishes,
Tonya

  1. We are in love with baseball at our home as well. It's a fun family affair. Full of naptimes in the dandelions and fun on the playground as well.

  3. Yay to baseball! Corey chooses a local running club instead. It's like cross country. I know what you mean about limiting things, it's such a hard balance. Enjoy your knitting time!

  4. We are big baseball fans here! I have one son who just breaths it and a husband who coaches three teams. I think it's a wonderful way to spend a little family time relaxing.

  5. We are the same way--we limit how many extra activities our children participate in. Back when we only had one child, we put her into everything, and it was so busy and stressful rushing around all the time. Now, with 4 children, we only have one activity going on at a time. At the moment, our 6 year old is in swimming lessons. Before that, his older sister was taking a babysitting course. This way we don't have to be in the car all the time.

  6. I remember the baseball days when my boys were younger... I miss those days. But I have three grandsons now so someday I'm sure I will be living them again!

  8. I know exactly what you mean about limiting activities. It's difficult with one child, but with more than one that is more time spent apart and on the road. Baseball season here is a couple of seasons and goes for a very long time.
It looks like you all are having a blast!

  9. Dear Tonya, I love these photos! We are the same as you: limiting our children's activities so they are home more, we are together more. In this day and age, children are so over programmed, they have no free time for themselves, or for their families. I could go on and on. . . it makes me sad.
I love that you all go together to the baseball games!
Hope you're enjoying this gorgeous sunny weather we're having!

  11. I think it's wonderful that you limit activities, I see so many kids that are in dance and gymnastics and piano lessons and soccer and, and, and... I was listening to a couple try to figure out how to juggle their two kids schedules the other day and it had them both running different directions and switching kids in parking lots and it just made me so sad.

  12. This brings back such memories. Sitting at the baseball field knitting while the littles color and big bub or big sis play...

    Blessings, Debbie
