Yarn Along

Joining in with Ginny of Small Things ~

~ I just have to add the buttons to the vest

~ Started on a pair of woolen booties, adapting a pattern from Vintage Knits for Modern Babies, using some soft beige wool yarn my son, Isaac, bought me for Christmas

~  Reading parts of a book that I refer to every couple of months, A Handmade Life, In Search of Simplicity by Wm. S. Coperthwaite

Here is one excerpt ~
"When we produce an article of clothing for others with concern for their welfare, we knit this concern into the garment.  Those who recognize that extra quality will feel a greater sense of care and affection - as well as warmth - when they wear the gift.  For those who know this, the hand-knit mittens are more beautiful.  Our sense of the beautiful is greatly influenced by knowledge."

Warm wishes, Tonya

  27. Hi Tonya! Just hopped onto your blog and I'm so thrilled to find it! I am a homeschooler with 6 kids too. My son is 14 and will technically be in 'high school' next year. I was wondering if you could share what you do in high school with your kids as far as work/curriculum goes. You can post it here, obviously, or e-mail me at wildwestfam8atgmaildotcom. Thanks! Look forward to reading more!!!!

  28. Ahhh, yes, a lovely book. Bill is an old friend of an old friend. I've heard many stories of their adventures together. An educator by training, he's got so many important things to say about education and life...I highly recommend his book.

  30. Hi Tonya,
While I was visiting Emily she had this book on her end table and I read the whole thing. It's a fabulous book which so gently shifts perception. Happy knitting.
