I am joining in with Ginny again this Wednesday. We have begun a new read out loud book to the young ones. So far they are enjoying it. I am still reading my same bedside book as last week, Lessons at Blackberry Inn.
I have finished the mittens and cast on some beautiful soft hand plant dyed merino yarn to knit a child's Aviatrix hat, the free pattern can be found here. I look forward to adding our handmade buttons.
What are you reading and knitting?
Always enjoy reading your blog everyday - you are such an inspiration. Could you check your link for the hat pattern? It wouldn't work for me. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteOh my that yarn looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting a book called The Quilter's Apprentice & still slowly knitting a shrug.
I love the color of that yarn Tonya! I just started another nordic hat like this one:

ReplyDeleteI love the yarn! I'd also love to see those buttons!
ReplyDeleteThat hat will be adorable in the bright yarn!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite childhood books that my mom read to me!
ReplyDeleteWe loved Misty at our house. Love the yarn you chose for your Aviatrix hat. I have the same pattern on my list.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Elizabeth
Beautiful yarn & that hat pattern is perfect!
ReplyDeleteNice little helmet and a gorgeous coloured yarn. I am just sewing up a sweater knitted in a blue aran (worsted) for my 4 year old, and desperate to get started on a pair of socks in a handspun moorit yarn for my husband. I have just started reading The Story of Stuff, and with my 4 year old we are reading a chapter book called The Wishing Chair.

The Interrupted Gardener
Pocketful of Pinecones and Lessons at Blackberry Inn are my homeschool bibles. I am always reading one or the other of them.
ReplyDeleteI don't knit, but I have been doing some needle felting lately - ornaments particularly.
We're reading The Bobbsey twins in Tulip Land and knitting lions. I'm reading Three Cups of Tea. I linked to this post at Bringing it Home ~ Waldorf Early Childhood on Facebook. I love your soulful posts and inspiring ideas.
ReplyDeleteThat yarn is so pretty! It will look great with the aviatrix pattern! We're reading The Birchbark House as our current read aloud. It is a counterpoint to The Little House books. A story from the same general time period focusing on Ojibway Indians. I'm having fun with some little mysteries myself.
ReplyDeleteI am just learning to knit and finished a dish cloth last week and am trying my hand at socks for all of my girls. I'm hoping to finish some before Christmas, but socks are not easy and I still feel like I'm all thumbs when I'm knitting.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Michelle
I love the colour of that yarn! I've been wanting to make one of those Aviatrix hats for sometime too. They look so fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn it looks so warm.. I'm working on a hat for my brothers birthday which is the day after Thanksgiving, My traveling sweater is also on the needles but that keeps getting pushed to the bottom of the pile also have a second sock on the needles to knit on while waiting at the kids school during pick up time(we have no buses).Currently reading Mini Shopaholic..An easy quick read. Also trying to keep my little guy interested in the Adirondack Kids series we're reading together but lately he would much rather play with his legos and trucks and since they do a lot of reading in school I'm trying not pushing it to much his sisters love to read so there's hope for him as he gets a little older.
ReplyDeleteI loved Misty of Chincoteague as a child. If your children love it too, they will probably enjoy Brighty of the Grand Canyon by the same author. Your blog is always a bright spot in my day. I so enjoy getting your "warm wishes".
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the wool you are using :) Such a bold color and perfect for the fall days. I just love reading your blog and wanted to say hello :) I look forward to seeing your hat next week.
