Handmade Holiday

A great post from Honor Crowned Crafts regarding her search for the "perfect" knitting pattern and her decision to make a shoulderette.

From  A Little Crafty Nest comes the idea of a knit headband. A quick gift to make that is very practical.

Here are some links to patterns I have shared on this blog in the past -

A Knitting pattern for little gnomes (so simple - a wonderful little stocking stuffer)

Happy Autumn everyone!  Can you believe October 1st is this Friday already?  The season for cozying up inside is nearly here!  Pefect for handwork projects.

Please keep sharing your ideas and thoughts and let me know if you would like to be added to the
 Handmade Holiday page.
Warm wishes,
Tonya

  3. Love that mason jar cover :) I finally made something this week! A pink organic Waldorf cuddle doll... then my daughter spotted it and I had to give it to hear (very early!) so I'll be working on a larger sized one for Hanukkah.

  8. Hi, I looked at the pattern and it made sense until I got to the part for the arms. Could you explain again how they are done? How are they attached? (A beginning knitter)
    They are so cute

  9. I love seeing these every Monday. I have to tell you, Tonya, that your gnomes are still one of Finn's favorite toys. He sleeps with one nearly every night. :)

  11. Diane,
For the gnome's arms - they are knit in a small rectangle. Once you bind off, you start sewing together with a running stitch across the short end and then pull and then sew down the longer side - stuff (I use a crochet hook to help with the stuffing) and then sew the other end closed straight across - then attach to gnome at shoulder and sew the last end that you sewed up to the body of the gnome.
    Does this make any sense?
    Warm wishes,
    Tonya
