Farm Stand

We put out our farm stand on Saturday. Although we live on a relatively quiet dirt rode, we do get customers.

The children love to run down the driveway and check the jar for money.
We do have some work to do on it, like give it a fresh coat of paint...not sure what color though, any ideas? Or just leave it.....
Right now we just have eggs and cookies out. I use a cut branch to write the prices on in permanet marker - they don't blow away! (why didn't I think of that last year?)

Warm wishes, Tonya

  1. What a sweet farm stand! I love the cut branch pricing idea; not only does it not blow away, but it compliments the branding of the Natural Earth Farm name. I know your family will choose the perfect color to paint your stand... please share a photo when it's painted!

  2. So beautiful! Just simple and magical---love it.
I always go for rainbow colors myself (hehe), so I vote to paint it red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet!

  3. Love it! Robin egg blue? Lemon yellow? Or the color my kids want us to paint our house -- rainbow! Whatever the color, it will look great. Looking forward to seeing you in June!

  4. I watched an episode of Rick Steeve's Europe on PBS. He was in Norway and was biking in the country and passed roadside markets where you stopped and got what you wanted and left money in the jar. I thought to myself, how beautiful that there are places left in the world where you can do things based on trust. It truly warms my heart to see it being done in Vermont as well! Nice farm stand

  6. My suggestion for your farmstand would be an earthy color and maybe a colorful flag or sign.

  7. I wish I could stop by;)...that is a really great idea using the cut branches. I visit a few homeside stands and their prices are always blowing away. I like the idea of a colorful flag that Good Things suggested.

  8. Hi from Toronto! I've been enjoying your blog for a few months now. I really like your farm stand, and staying true to the name "Natural Earth Farm" I suggest keeping it completely natural - maybe a coating of something that would prevent the wood from rotting, but I love its earthy natural look as it is.

  10. I am a big fan of the roadside stands!
I vote for yellow, it is my 'new' favorite! Or some sweet homemade painting of eggs etc... xo Happy selling : )

  11. I too am a fan of the natural look & color of the wood. So pretty! But I'd imagine that it may not stand out enough & potential customers would drive right by, so I suppose some color would be nice. I like the idea of a nice barn-red with some gingham material/tablecloth.... but I'm such a farm nerd. :p I like the blue & yellow suggested here already. Whatever you do, good luck with your stand this season!

  12. oh, i do love it just the way it is! wish i lived close enough to visit. i love these kind of honor system stands. in my (quite populated) neighborhood a local beekeeper has a honey cupboard at the end of his drive. so nice!

  13. Wish I lived close enough to buy your eggs! A bright color like red would catch people's eye, but natural is always good too.

  15. Red is my favorite colour, but I can see why it wouldn't be a good idea. The natural is so nice, though. Could you trim the natural in a colour to just highlight it a bit??

I am wishing for maple syrup (hint!) Will you have any to sell this year??

Missed reading you this weekend. Internet was down for some reason... Sigh.. .

  17. Love it! I think robin egg blue or a super cheeful green to stand out a little more.....if you do blue you could try to wrap some branches or vines up the front poles...

  18. I love it as is. And the first color that sprang to mind was a lovely robins egg blue or electric blue, however, given you have such talented young minons, maybe you could let them do doodles in paint on it? It could be an ever=changing art mural!!!

    :D

  19. What about painting it white? Still natural looking, but with a little more "pop" to grab passing cars. Or, for an eclectic vibe, maybe bright red or purple?

Is this your first year doing this? Looks so great!
