Lately...

We are harvesting so many beans, that these will be for freezing.  We can only eat so many canned dilly beans, right?

Our gardens are growing beautifully but as you can see, I am not a neat and tidy, weed free gardener.  There are more important priorities that's all.

It is fun watching the pie pumpkins grow up on the fencing.

Sometimes I have to do things in steps, not having the time or energy to get it all done in one day.  Yesterday I cut the cucumbers and today I will can them to make pickles.

We went blueberry picking at a nearby organic blueberry farm.  (Our bushes are still small...)  We have been eating blueberry pie, blueberry pancakes, blueberries straight from the box, and today I am using up the rest making blueberry cake.

Of course, knitting.  Sarah said yesterday that it was a perfect day to knit.  I, of course, agreed.

We were blessed to see this beautiful site over our pond.

Warm wishes,
Tonya

  1. At least your pickles are in progress. I just can't stop eating up the cukes right away!

  2. Tonya, I can't believe the similarities in our homes right now- from blueberry pie to non-weeded gardens, to cukes waiting to be pickles and little children knitting. One of these days, we've got to get together. :)
The only difference is our green beans did horribly this year. I had high hopes to can a whole lot, but alas as with every single year our garden is not as planned in our heads!
Hope you're feeling well these last few weeks! <3

  3. Lovely. Funny, I cut all the strawberries and rhubarb for a batch of pie filling yesterday, but decided the actual canning could wait until today. It takes all the fun away if you are rushing to get too much done at once!!

  4. I wish I had enough cukes to make pickles...mine died.

  5. We're right there with you with regards to the beans, blueberry, and knitting enjoyment. Today's garden task is to harvest the current crop of beans for freezing. Such bounty!

    Beautiful rainbow.

  8. Neat and tidy, weed-free gardens are over-rated. Yours is lovely, thank you for sharing. We got our package today! Joaquin loved the blocks and I loved the branch holders and buttons. Thank you! I posted photos on my blog if you want to see...

  9. Tonya...My little girl is just newly three but I look forward to the very same declarations for knitting as your sweet little one. Happy to hear you are being easy on your expectations of your gardening and pickling. And mmmmm...lots of yummy stuff going on over there. Enjoy every minute, though I know you are:)

  10. I love double rainbows-just gorgeous. Your garden is producing wonderfully. I am afraid ours didn't do as well as we expected, but there is always the fall. Any time is great for knitting. Love seeing your little one knit.

  11. All that garden produce is wonderful. We need to attend to our raised beds and add more garden space so that we'll have more next year. This year, we just couldn't pull it off and ended up with just potted plants (some are doing well!).
